Made in Florence
Tesi was founded in the mid 19th century and was specialized in the making and selling of the straw hats fo which the area of Signa is famous.
At the beginning of the 20th century the company was internationally renowned. Their success in selling their creations in Europe and in the USA lead them to invest greatly in expanding their factory, which still today can be found in its original location.
Various fashion trends helped the company flourish: straw hats were very trendy in that period but what made the difference was the type of materials used, and those were Tesi’s priorities: style and quality. In the 1920’s the Panama hat became a fashion must-have, and Tesi was clever to jump on this trend and specialize in making them, with a continuous and selective search for the highest quality materials on the market.
After the Second World War, hats started to lose their prominent position in fashion. They were no longer considered an indispensable part of daily attire, becoming only an accessory for special occasions and for a certain social class. The demand for hats decreased, but the company introduced new lines in felt and fabric to meet everyday needs.
Today, hats are a fundamental accessory; they can be found on the runways of the most famous designers and brands. In fact, besides their own collection, Tesi Hats also works with various clients in the production of personalized collections.
