The panama hat is what made Tesi Hats famous.

In 1906, U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt shows off a gorgeous Montecristi at the inauguration of the Panama Canal, and from that moment the hat becomes known and appreciated in the whole world. The biggest stars in American cinema during the two world wars wore panama hats, and to this day it remains a classic in male fashion.

THE MAKING OF A PANAMA HAT

The selection of prestigious material is the key. The size and delicacy of the straw strands is what defines the quality of a panama hat. Once the material has been chosen, next the hat is woven through the harmonious movements of expert hands. The final result is a “Campana di Paja Toquilla”, light and splendid.

There are different types of Panama Montecristi, from the “Classic” to the “Extrafine”; made by hand, the artisans themselves guarantee the quality of the product. The creation of the “Extrafine”, for instance, needs various months of work.
